Cambridge crowned WaiBOP champions
Cambridge have been crowned the champions of Waikato/Bay of Plenty after securing their eighth win in a row in the WaiBOP Premiership.The team beat Waikato Unicol in the last game of their regular season to clinch the regional title.
Glen Carmichael scored a dramatic winner in the 93rd minute of the game to send Cambridge supporters wild with delight (see photograph) as the club won its first top level title in 20 years.
The club will now represent Waikato/Bay of Plenty in a two-legged play-off against the champions of Auckland/Northern, Waitemata, to decide which club wins promotion to the 2016 Northern League.
The first game in the series is at John Kerkhof Park on Saturday September 19, kick off 2.45pm.
